I don't know, but by upgrading to the latest version it could solve the issue.

FYI : The version 1.5.4 of kunena that you are using contains a security issue which could be used to do sql injection. The kunena version is displayed in credits page, so it's easy to nobody to know the issue which have this version and maybe break your site. upgraded to the latest version - installed perfectly but made no difference.

I changed the config file in joomla to make sure it was writeable and disabled ftp in config.

Got a better response but I'm not over keen about disabling ftp as a work around. When I tried uploading an avatar again, I got this error message.



It still works, just don't want my users getting the wrong idea.

Do you have checked the permissions of the directory /media/kunena/attachments/legacy and the sub-directories ?
Check too the access right : help.ubuntu.com/community/Joomla#Configure%20Access%20Rights

I have checked the permissions were all set to 775. I looked at that link at it went straight over my head. Any other suggestions?

I copied over the avatars ok and the new forum is picking them up ok. Still got the error though.

Gone full circle - disabled ftp and chmod files/folder the site wouldn't upload.
enabled ftp the avatar uploads ok but get the following error.



strangly enough, if I choose a generic avatar from the kunena library such as a flower, etc, it deletes and installs perfectly without any error messages.

Recently we had identical problem. checked the status / extension of the pic. chenged it in Photoshop into RGB value, saved and was accepted. no bad response. Might have some'thing to do with that.
