Hi all,

Let me see if I can explain what is going on correctly :

I have a staff section on our forum. That section is not viewable for the registered users (only for Managers and up). In the Categories section, as a registered user, you don't see the staff section. So far, so good.

Now, in the Recent Discussions tab though, here's where it goes wrong. Registered users, can see posts from the staff section, which they are not supposed to see, cause it is a hidden forum. When you click on it, you can see the hidden post, reply to it etc. If you try to go one level up though, it says : restricted area again.

Perhaps there's a topic about this already, I had no idea what and how to search on this.

Any help is appreciated.

Ow, the Kunena version is 1.09

Thanks.

Thank you for your question, Terrence. I think a lot of us will be interested in knowing what's going on here and how (or whether) your problem can be fixed. I don't know whether I can suggest anything that will help, but I would like to confirm something, please. Terrence wrote:

This is the part I don't understand: "if you try to go one level up." I don't know what that means.

I'd like to try to reproduce your situation on a test site and I'll get back to this discussion topic soon.

Can I confirm the Kunena forum settings, please?

You did not select any value for Public Access Level. You selected "Manager" for Admin Access Level. Have I understood these correctly?

Doesn't matter. Joomla access levels do not work on Kunena and Kunena has none of it's own natively. Your best bet is to implement this hack.

GroupJive used to work for FireBoard but I cannot say about it working on Kunena.

We love stars on the Joomla Extension Directory . :-)

English is not my native language, so it is kind of difficult to explain. What I mean by that is :

Support Staff [FORUM SECTION](hidden)
|
|
Quality Control [SUBFORUM](hidden)
|
|
Post [ACTUAL POST](hidden)

So in the category tab, I can't see any of these (cause they are only accessible to managers and up). All goes well.

But in the Recent Discussions tab, the Post (ACTUAL POST) IS viewable, click able, accessible AND you can reply on the topic.

Now, if you want to go from that topic (so from recent discussions to that topic) to Quality Control [SUBFORUM] (that's what I meant with one level up) it says it is a restricted area (which is good).

So basically, in the categories tab, everything is working as it should. In the recent discussions tab, registered users get to see hidden topic, can click on hidden topics, read hidden topics, reply to hidden topics, but once they try to view the entires subforum of which the hidden topic is part of it goes : RESTRICTED AREA again.
