Hi

I use Kunena 1.08 on a Joomla 1.0.15 installation and I noticed that the search function in the forum does not work with swedish characters like å,ä and ö. If I use any of those ltters in the search string there is no result showing. What to do? I guess special charactrs in a lot of other languages will experience the same problem.

Regards,
Thoeri

Try 1.0.9, as it works for Finnish characters. ;)

Hi

Thank you for your answer. It works, like you say, in 1.0.9.

But there is still a problem. If there is a lot of search hits so there will be pagination, the pagination do not work with swedish (or finnish) characters. Without the special characters is does work though.

I entered a word like sömn in my search string, which contains a special character. The first page of search results are showing fine. When I click on another page in the footer I get the message : No search result found.

And I can see why. In the keyword field the word sömn is changed to sömn. This happens only after pagination. For the first page of hits it is normal, sömn.

How can I fix this? Any ideas?

Best regards,
Thoeri

It works for me (I've fixed the bug with search word "viljakäärme").

Do you have Joomla 1.0? Browser?

It looks like that you don't have UTF-8 enabled in somewhere.. If I can find out when this happens, I may be able to fix it.

Hi Matias and thank you for helping me.

I just realized something, thanks to your answer. This seams to happen only during some circumstaces. It also seams to be a far worse problem with some browsers. Not only does the pagination not work - there is no search result returned at all.

Mac + FF = problem with pagination
Mac + safari = no serach result at all
PC + IE6 = problem with pagination
PC + IE7 = no search result at all
PC + FF = NO problem

I hope we will be able to solve this.

Best regards,
Thoeri

Ok, I'll take my MacBook and look this issue with it. Is it broken only words with umlauts åäö or always?
