OK I have been trying to get this loaded for two days. I had Fireboard but wante to try Kunena. However just the same as others I am getting the PHP timeout errors. Site is www.outboarddrag.com . Joomla 1.05, MySQL 5.0. With no help from Godaddy, they said they have no control over it. I have chnaged my php.ini file with the information provided here docs.kunena.com/index.php/Technical_Requirements Still no luck. The settings do not change.

I have tried to upload the files to the server via FTP and then load directly from server but always get "Please enter a package directory". I have tried it unarchived and still in zip format. no luck.

I have searched through threads but did not see any updates from folks with same issue. Did you guys figure it out or what? Thanks!

Tired of beating my head against the wall.

First of all if you are running Joomla 1.0.5 you must update to latest version 1.0.15!

Most hosting provider restrict which php settings you are allowed to override.

I think the way forward for you still is a install form local directory. You have to figure out which directory you can install from. Some have success with /tmp others reports using path_to_my_joomla_install/tmp (aka the joomla temp directory)

Hope you are able to do a successful install because Kunena is great!

Familiarize yourself with Joomlapack and a local testing environment. You can create your Joomla install locally and upload/install it as a Joomlapack archive via Kickstart in less than 20 minutes. This will bypass any server timeouts.

Good. It got so bad that even that wouldn't work for me. I had to move hosts.
