Question Migration from fireboard on J1.x.x to Kunena on J1.5.9

Migration from fireboard on J1.x.x to Kunena on J1.5.9 was created by randelld
I have spent many hours trawling the net and various forums for a solution to my problem. I have also noticed many, many other with the same problem.
Some of the solutions work for some, but not for others. I have used the mw migration component but it hasn't worked correctly, I am manually editing my DB and taking a long time ironing out errors in my new forum install.
Wouldn't it make sense for the kunena devs to initally concentrate on helping all fireboard users migrate to kunena???
I am certainly not having a go at the devs, I am not a developer so I wouldn't have the right, having been dumped in the S*** with fireboard around the same time that Joomla 1.5 came out, a lot of people are stuck now.
I saw a reply from Grumblemarc saying to read the documentation. I did that and still none the wiser.
A nice comprehensive sticky at the top of the forum with instructions from the devs would be very helpful for all of us.

Having run forums for quite a few year I agree with you Grumblemarc. However, This topic is about the developers creating a sticky with full instructions on how to carry out the various migrations.
The post that you linked to is not about that, incidentally it hasn't received any worthwhile responses either, maybe you'd like to help us out instead???????

The developers MAIN focus at the moment is creating a stable 1.5 NATIVE version of Kunena and they're spread pretty thing at the moment. Would you rather have them drop everything to work on this? Splitting hairs about a sticky for migrations and topics on the migrations themselves is what this is. If you want a userguide created, as it were, I am not qualified as I have not had the need to migrate nor can I assist. But if I had to I would upgrade to Kunena on the old Joomla install first. Install Kunena on the new and import the tables. Do it on a local site rather than a live one to prevent destroying your install.
Now if you don't mind I think I'll close this one down.
