I have a Joomla 1.0.15 website that't still running Simpleboard. I've installed fireboard and imported the Simpleboard tables. Then I copied the whole FB tables to a Joomla 1.5.9 site to upgrade it to Kunena for testing. That works ok. But now I only want to import all the messages from the old site to the new one.

Can I Reinstall FB again on the old site so I can import the Simpleboard tables and then upgrade it to kunena. Then copy only the fb_messages and the fb_messages_text tables to the new site with kunena running? I only want to import the posts and not the rest of the settings.

I hope you understand my question.

Your new site doesn't contain any new messages?

Copying those two messages tables is not enough.

Just uninstall Kunena in your new site, remove all jos_fb_ tables and do everything again. You can save the new configuration settings to somewhere and just put it back after installing Kunena.

The new site contains the messages I imported 1 1/2 months ago for a test. Now I changed all the things on the new site I like and want to import the messages of the old site. Then I can close the old site and open the new site for our members. The new site is still in test status and not open for the public.

What information do you want to keep in the new forum?

I want to keep my config, and the categories if possible. If it isn't possible then the config is the most important. I can always change the categories the way I want them, but that's more work.

It depends on how you have changed the categories. Adding new categories and changing descriptions, moderators etc is ok.

Just make backup from fb_config, fb_categories and maybe fb_moderation, migrate and restore the information. Then recount stats to get the post counts right..

It should work, but I'm not 100% sure. So you should test it before going live.
