Question Migration from PHPBB2 to Kunena Latest Version

So here's my story. I am running www.kiteforum.co.nz , a Kite Sports Community website in New Zealand. I am have PHPBB 2.0.23 currently with over 15,000 topics and some very interesting NZ kiting history which I wish to migrate over into the new fourm.
Questions are:
Is a PHPBB converion to Kunena possible?
Can I use a Fireboard migration script/tool/app to pull all this data over, including my users and their avatars?
How can I maintain the relationships with there exisiting posts?
Can I do the migration manually with a simple understanding of the kunena schema?
Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on these Q's. I am very grateful.
Happy Kiteloops

At the moment the native migration options are still limited. In the future we are planning to offer an open migration framework and migrators for the most common boards.
Right now I suggest you install the latest FireBoard release, use the scripts available for FB and then do the upgrade to Kunena. You might have to do a little work by hand but these migrations have been done many times and it should not be a huge problem.

Many thanks for your responsive reply. Glad to know there is a solution to the migration of my communities board. Will do as suggested and take a 2 phase approach to moving off phpbb2.
Will contribute back to this topic of the progress and any challenges solved on the way through. Now... of to install Fireboard on my server and run the phase one conversion.

I'm also very interessed in this migration. We have a clan site running with phpNuke and want to convert to Joomla 1.5. We have found a nice looking template for it, but of course nothing for the forums. Changing a template in phpBB3 is just to hard. They have several css files with no descriptions so for a n00b it's impossible to start with.
I've been trying now Kunena and the css file is much clearer. But off course then we need a good conversion script but I guess there are difficulties with it.
I saw that Kunena uses other bbcode in their posts:
The list is written as (lu)(li)blablabla(/li) but in phpBB it is (list)(*)blablabla(/list)
Also when you quote you can't add the name of who the quote is. In Kunena you can just add (quote)blablabla(/quote) but in phpBB it is (quote="somebody")blablabla(/quote). This I find a drawback but might come with an update.
Now I'm add it, I also saw another drawback. When you edit a post as moderator on page 1 in a thread that is for example 5 pages, you jump back to the last post instead of the post you just edited. This isn't good because you have to search for that post again.
Is there a thread where you can post comments, findings, bugs, or things wanted? Maybe make it sticky and adapt the first post with all comments so we can easely check if something is already mentioned, being worked on etc...
Looking forward for a good migration script.
