Some of my user inform me about this problem on a J1.0.15 / K1.0.8 install today. I followed fxstein recomoditon and isolated the problem to the emoticons. Turn them of and see if the text (message part) reappear. Further putting text within code-brackets also made the text visible.

Can other with the same problem (text not visible) test to turn off emoticons in backend and report here...

Ok, now I understand. FB/Kunena bbcode parser is broken and should be replaced soon with another solution.

I think that the problem may relate to UTF-8 characters. Try to find which characters are causing this, maybe I can track it down..

The site I refer to use iso-8859-1 (latin-1). UTF was one of the new stuff with J1.5, wasn' it? No default charset on server or in php.

So it's not charset, then. But try to isolate the problem by looking what part of the text makes it to disappear. It would help us to track the issue down.

I assume that this problem can be found only from some messages..?
