Kunena Goes Joomla 1.5 Native

Details
Published: 15 June 2009

Over the last few months, the Kunena team has been hard at work on both fixing many legacy issues and concurrently developing a Joomla 1.5 native version of Kunena. Having gone through multiple test versions in recent months, we're proud to announce that today we're declaring Kunena 1.5.3 the final version.

Kunena 1.5.3 incorporates several new features including an easier installation process, better SEO for Google, and improved SEF by using the built-in Joomla URL router. It also address a number of minor bugs with avatar uploading, a profile memory issue, and IE-specific fixes. A complete list of improvements can be found here.

Over 35,000 copies of the Kunena 1.5.x test versions have been downloaded since April 2009 (the Kunena 1.0.x series has been downloaded over 82,000 times), which clearly demonstrates a strong interest in a powerful forum solution that integrates natively within Joomla.

Working closing with the Community Builder development and testing teams, even more compatibility improvements and fail-safe procedures have been made. We've also added JoomFish support for multilingual sites (in addition to built-in add-on support for 10 world languages) and improved compatibility with JomSocial. And the Kunena team is committed to the Joomla Project for the future, always striving to be the best and most integrated forum solution for Joomla.

We're sure that you'll agree that Kunena 1.5.3 is our best release yet. Go native and download your free copy now and check out the documentation wiki for complete release information.

Other bug fixes in this release include CSS fixes, language updates, SEF improvements, and increased compatibility with Joomla 1.5.
