UPDATE 24 Feb 2026
I originally tried to upgrade Kunena to 7.0.1 on my Joomla 6.0.3 site and got the "Class "Kunena\Forum\Plugin\Kunena\Easysocial\Extension\Easysocial" not found" error. I don't use EasySocial on my site and the Kunena - EasySocial Integration plugin is disabled. Why does this error message happen?

Today I tried upgrading version 6.4.9 of Kunena on my Joomla 6.0.3 test site to 7.0.1 again, but this time the installation completely failed. After the failure I did not try and install pkg_kunena_languages_v7.0.1
I then uninstalled version 6.4.9 but the complete site stopped working, so I had to restore the database and files for a second time.

I believe I have met all the requirements for Kunena 7.0, except perhaps the following installed modules may have been developed for previous versions of Kunena? What should I do?
Kunena Statistics 6.2.0
Kunena Search 6.2.0
Kunena Latest 6.2.0

Lastly, my database is MySQLi 11.4.10-MariaDB, however the requirement is MySQL: version 8.4.0 or greater. Is this OK?

Thank you,

Andy

I have the same problem, and I have tried what you suggested but I'm still going round in circles. Entering the Kunena dashboard produced the error message: Class "Kunena\Forum\Plugin\Kunena\Easysocial\Extension\Easysocial" not found

Workaround: I have restored a backup and am once again using the un-supported version 6.4.9 of Kunena on my Joomla 6.0.3 site, which is working perfectly for me. Hopefully a future version will solve the issue, and then I will upgrade version 7.x

Do you have any suggestions, please? Thank you.

Have you perhaps activated an extension on the forum pages that is only accessible to registered users? If so, deactivate it on a trial basis.
Please select “Error Reporting = Maximum” in the global configuration of Joomla and activate both the Joomla and Kunena debug modes. This may provide a more meaningful error message.

Hello,

Please tell me on which Kunena version you were before the update to K7.0.1 ?

I get the same error message, if I try to use Smart Search module:  www.kunena.org/forum/general-questions-a...onflicts-with-kunena

There is no button for the update; it should happen automatically as soon as the dashboard is opened.
Please set the error reporting in Joomla to maximum and activate the Joomla and Kunena debug mode; perhaps there will be a meaningful error message.

The Database is MariaDB 10.11.33105 (According to phpmyadmin --- the Joomla-Admin-Answer I sent yesterday is quite strange for my eyes)
This afternoon I had to deactivate the Kunena Extension as I found that new Themas in the Forum are not stored, but the mails are sent. So the user doesnt realize that his content is dropped.

Yes, I confirm it works but only to mention users who have already post at least one message in the topic.

@stunalan do you know if the mention can send some kind of notify to the mentioned user?

Thanks!

Hello,

There is a database change introduced in Kunena 7.0 so this can't happens on Kunena 6.4.x.

In the upgrade process there should be a query applied which alter the table, ut it has failed in our case.

To help to try to reproduce, please tell me if you use MySql or Mariadb ? And which version ?

Thanks for your replies.

@Leen I am using RS!Firewall but I deactivated it completely, no change. I also didn't change anything about the access rights or similar. I mean, if it is a user/category/group access issue, there wouldn't be a 404 but instead a note that I have no access, or not?

@Pinkeltje I recreated the menu as suggested but without any success, the issue still is active. I can access the forum when being a guest but not when being registered and logged in.

When our users log in to our website they get
The requested page could not be found.
...
...... and at the End:
0 Unknown column 'language' in 'SET'
The login is already successful - but the user only sees the error message and is irritated.
(Joomla 5.4.2,  Kunena 7.0.1)
The database tables where updated in the dashboard after Kunena-update.

On another system I have still kunena 6. and there are no error-messages.
09 Feb 2026 21:37 - 11 Feb 2026 12:10
Under Kunena 6.3.10 everything was working fine and E-mail were send to subscribers when new articles were posted. I suddenly got the message that Kunena 6.3.10 was not working correct anymore under Joomla 6, so I was adviced to upgrade to Kununa 7.0.1.
At first I upgrade my Joomla 6 test site to Kunena 7.0.1 and this upgrade seems succesfull, so I upgraded my production site also to Kunena 7.0.1. I asumed that during the upgrade no settings were changed, but later on I discovered that sending E-mails from Kunena was not working anymore and when I was clicking on an online user in the CB online user module I got the Kunena error message: Undefined constant "Kunena\Forum\Libraries\Factory\KPATH_SITE".
At the moment testing sending E-mails from the Joomla website via PHP and SMTP is still working correct and in the Kunena 7.0.1 configuration the setting for sending E-mails is: ON. Can you advice me how to solve both problems and/or which setting in the Kunena configuration are changed during upgrade so I can correct this.

Thanks and regards, Hans
