Kunena 7.0.4 Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

This is for users to help other users, to discuss topics that relate to migrating from other web-based forums and converting the data into a form that will operate with Kunena.

It is important to note that the Kunena team does not have a standard, recommended or supported protocol for these ideas and that posting questions in this category may not receive advice from team members.

At the moment there is no migration tool for Agora to Kunena. I have asked for some more information on this subject and will update you as soon as possible.

It is possible to do with with MySQL if you know what you are doing.

Please read the FAQ.

I just have read from some indications (Kunena) that they have (under development) a Migrator ...

There was an experimental component that was written a couple of years ago that converted a much older version of Agora to Kunena - I think it was Agora v3 to K 1.7.2. This experimental tool is still available for download but I don't think it works with Agora Pro.

The experimental importer product has not been updated for a couple of years.

Regarding your comment about the support offered by the Kunena project in connection with migrating/converting other forum products, the information in the category description (at the top of this page) should make it clear:

This is for users to help other users, to discuss topics that relate to migrating from other web-based forums and converting the data into a form that will operate with Kunena.

It is important to note that the Kunena team does not have a standard, recommended or supported protocol for these ideas and that posting questions in this category may not receive advice from team members.

In addition to what has been written about migrating from "brand X" forum to Kunena, I think it would help if you read I want to migrate my forum to Kunena ...

I do not know the answer to this question. I do not think it would be in the interest of a software developer to provide a migration tool that facilitated the conversion/migration of their forum product to another forum product, do you?

I was preparing my reply to you when Jiminimonka was also writing and he is right. It is usually possible to migrate or convert just about any forum product to Kunena if you have a knowledge of how your existing forum operates at the database level and how Kunena operates at the database level (although the degree to which you can move everything from one forum to another forum may or may not be possible - it depends on the internals of the forum product you are trying to convert). If you have the skill, genuine need and the patience to persevere, just about anything is possible. I don't know how much it would cost to obtain the assistance of a professional who specialises in these things but you could be looking a spending anything from a couple of hundred dollars to a thousand dollars or more. It all depends on how important is your existing forum and how much of it may be relevant to your current business. There's no simple answer to that question; it is something that everyone must answer for themselves.

Please, for the sake of god, don't bother the iJoomer project anymore. It's all dead and gone. Don't know how many hours I've spent on their products... way too many! :)

A friend of mine helped me migrate my large Agora Pro forum to phpbb, for a very reasonable price.... from there it would be easy for you to go to Kunena... PM me if you're interested!

Best wishes

Peter

If you managed to migrate to phpBB 3, I would like you to use this script:

www.kunena.org/forum/migrate-to-kunena/1...a-3-migration-script

It is 100% free and I have plans to support it (without a fee) as far as I can. Since the project is open source, someone can always create a fork and continue development if I loose interest.

Let me know if I can help. :)

Edit

OMG. I thought this was a new topic. My bad.

Please follow my open source projects MixERP Project and phpBB to Kunena Migration Script on Github.
