Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

This is for users to help other users, to discuss topics that relate to migrating from other web-based forums and converting the data into a form that will operate with Kunena.

It is important to note that the Kunena team does not have a standard, recommended or supported protocol for these ideas and that posting questions in this category may not receive advice from team members.

Let me be sure I understand the question correctly. This topic is now "How do I migrate from J! 2.0 to J! 3.1?" Is that correct?

Yes, pretty much. I asked the same question over at the Joomla forums, but there I was told the core Joomla tables are exactly the same. Still, I'd rather play it safe and do what you proposed, but updating Joomla 2.5.13 to 3.1.4 is proving to be a pain in the butt...

Edit: and thank you, Matias. I have sent you an email.

Edit 2: I have managed to update Joomla manually. It became barely usable, but at least the tables were updated, which meant that I could import them in the real installation. Had to mess a little bit with accounts and passwords to get access to the backpanel again, but in the end I managed it.

Thanks for the help, everyone. Now I just need to iron out the flaws that are bound to be there. :)

*** Off-topic ***

Thanks for this information. I really haven't had the time (or the energy) to even ask the question "How do you migrate from J! 2.5 to J! 3.1?"

Perhaps it's my cynicism but whenever I hear someone tell me "there is no difference between the core Joomla tables from one major version to another major version" I find that rather difficult to believe. As things stand today, there have been enough difficulties arising from the screwed-up releasing of J! 2.5.12 and J! 3.1.3 (resulting in the cobbled-together J! 2.5.13 and J! 3.1.4 together with a patchwork-quilt of hotfixes) that need to be re-engineered into J! 3.1.5 (and, I guess J! 2.5.14).

But if you say that the you've been told that there's no difference between the core Joomla tables between J! 2.5 and J! 3.1 then I'll take your word for it. ;)

It's the first reply in this topic.
He does seem to know his stuff, but I can't confirm it indeed works, since I in the end I did manage to update the version to 3.0.
