Hello,

When attempting to restore a message from the Trash bin, I receive a warning message that I do not have permission to do so, although I am the site's super administrator.

I think that you have found a bug. You have set in the Kunena configuration (tab security) "Show Deleted Messages = Nobody". But this setting should be only for the frontend.
Quote: >>Do you want to allow moderators or administrators to be able to see and restore deleted messages in the frontend. By default only administrators can do this.<<
Change this setting to "Administrator" and you can restore the messages.
