Good day!
I use Kunena 3.0.3 ( with Russian language pack ), Joomla 2.5.16 . This version of Kunena can not upload files and avatars that contain Russian letters .
1. If Russian letters are in name of avatar , a warning is given that the file extension is invalid, but it is allowed!
2 . If you have Russian letters in the file name , which is attached to the message , the file is attached , but do not have a name . After downloading the file it will not open , and most users will not guess give it a name .
3 . If avatar size larger than the size that is specified in the admin panel , the user is not given any warning and avatar does not boot .

Please tell me whether you can make any changes to files Kunena, the user sees warning that:
1. avatar much weight and should weigh no more than xxx KB.
2 . avatar or image should not contain Russian letters (do not download the file without a name, but only to warn ) .

I'm not a programmer and of all written itself can only add a constant in the language pack and translate them . So please help!

I also try to solve this problem on my forum. It is known that Kunena version 2.0.2 did not have this issue.

We have previously requested to correct this issue. In 2.0.x Kunena team fixed it. But in version 3.0.x this problem appeared again.

I am sure that this issue applies not only to the Russian letters. But to many unicode characters.

In 2.0.2, if the file has wrong file name (according to the forum), forum added a tag with the current date and time to file name. And that was enough to avoid errors.

We are using Joomla to verify the filenames and this might also be related to the latest security enchancements on Joomla. I've fixed the issue in upcoming Kunena 3.1 as it will allow different filenames on filesystem and what's shown to the user.

I've also improved K3.0.4 to allow filenames where there are no latin-1/ascii characters.
