After a hung install of K 3.0.0b1 (where clear the cache is required to complete the install - thank you for the help), only Super Administrator can see the boards and posts.

I found this issue in the Category Manager>Category Permissions.
access control option 'joomla.group' is currently disabled

Setting any user as a Moderator allows them to see boards and posts but obviously this is not a good workaround.

I found the fix in this K2 post: After Upgrade Topics hang in a loop

You have to reassign your ACL settings for each different category and they will show again

After going through my ACLs and simply selecting Save on each one, everything is working.
Note: My ACLs are not defaults

Curious do you have any ACL based components you are using. We have this issue at weird times, not sure if it has to deal with something incorrectly stored on Joomla or our side.

No ACL based components.

Simply have an addition "Member" ACL which has more access than Registered users.
So if a user is set as Author or above, they move up from Registered ACL to Member ACL.

The issue you describe is common for those who have upgraded from Joomla 1.5 and migrated Kunena manually.

Looks like the text could be wrong, though, as ACL seems to work for you.

Just make sure that after saving the categories, they are still using the same group! This is because of the group id will change between two Joomla versions (1.5 -> 2.5/3.0).
