While experimenting with the goal of achieving a clean re-install while restoring category and message content, I've found 2 bugs when uninstalling Kunena using the Uninstall option in Tools.
1. The uninstaller removes the plugins/kunena directory and all its contents - even other plugins not installed with Kunena. This leaves orphaned database entries for 3rd party extensions
2. The uninstaller removes all tables prefixed #__kunena - even if they aren't part of Kunena. For example, the table #__kunenadiscuss is removed, although that plugin remains installed in plugins/content
This is very lazy behavior. If the folder isn't empty, don't delete it and if the database table doesn't belong to you, leave it alone.
Thankfully, this was done on my dev server and the live site has full backups.
Table update queries aren't exactly updating the tables to match the new structure. I compared a fresh install to a site upgraded from 4.0.10 > 4.0.11 > 4.0.12 > 5.0.2 > 5.0.3 and there are quite a few differences. There are quite a few TINYTEXT, TEXT, MEDIUMTEXT changes and a few VARCHAR length changes that are not updated to reflect the freshly installed table structure.
If you have time, can you pls help me, i don't get replies on my post.
For some reason, after clean install, i can't install kunena.
Its stuck on installation, after the error it is in my component area but if i click on the forum its finishing the installation and get the same error.
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `#__kunena_configuration` (
`id` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
`params` text NULL,
PRIMARY KEY (id) ) DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8;
Tried different versions of Joomla and different version of kunena. nothing works.
I tried installing it on another server with the latest kunena and latest joomla. I think there is made a mistake in one of the updates. Am trying days now and still no luck. Am gonna try what you said 810 and figure out how to do that. I have no clue. But ty so much for the information. Waited for days for someone to reply.
