Rendering Error in layout topics/default: Error decoding JSON data: Syntax error. Please enable debug mode for more information.

updated to Kunena 5.0.3 first. Also happened with 5.0.2

Please enable kunena debug: backend - kunena - configurations

And look again, you will see the real issue now.

I was logged in as superuser.

When you say error page, do you mean the page that has the error, or is there a specific page when using debug mode?

looks like the JFactory variable is off.

Any thoughts on that?

I disabled that plug in and I'm still getting the generic error

Rendering Error in layout topics/default: Error decoding JSON data: Syntax error. Please enable debug mode for more information.

But nothing else. No verbose errors. But it still doesn't work.

Looks like there might be an issue with Joomla.
