Solved Pagination links have the last message id, pagination links not working

I have had our small community site up and running now a bit over a year, and everything else is working fine, except one annoying problem with pagination. When the number of posts in a topic exceeds the pagination limit, and the newest post goes to a new page, and the user clicks on the topic, which is marked as "New", he/she will be directed to the last page, as it should be. However, if the user wants to check the older posts, and visit the previous pages, the links to previous pages don't work, and the user will stay on the last page. The problem is solved by visiting some other topic, and coming back such that the topic is no more marked as "New" - then the links work.

Here is a link generated for page 1, when a link is not working:
https://www.....com/index.php/palsta?view=topic&defaultmenu=216&catid=11&id=5&mesid=488&limitstart=0

And here is a working link, after the topic is no more "New":
https://www.....com/index.php/palsta?view=topic&defaultmenu=216&catid=11&id=5&limitstart=0

You can see that the difference is in that the message id of the newest message is included in the non-working link, which will always take the user to the last page. If I remove the "mesid=488" from the link above, it will take me correctly to page 1. This is very much repeatable in any case, and it always happens when a topic is marked as "New".

I have tried two different templates (we're using JSN Pixel 2, but I tried also with the Blue Eagle 5), and both have the same issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Versions - we have Kunena 5.0.13 and Joomla 3.8.5.

Same issue. I reported this previously but no answer. I thought it was an issue with Blue Eagle since I have a ton of fatal error messages in my error logs which reference Blue Eagle. I've been waiting for the 5.1 update and the corresponding Blue Eagle update hoping these will fix the issue.

Thanks xreliable!

Since this is very easily repeatable, and also easy to notice (many of the users in our forum have reported this, and I also noticed it quite a long time ago), I thought that this has to be something with the parameters, or with the extensions. But it does certainly seems to be something in the core itself.

Let's wait for the 5.1 and see if it solves the issue.

Same Problem here...

Everything works with the Pagination first.
Klick on Page 1 -> get this Adress-> http://.../.../.../2-music-nonstop-next-gen?limitstart=0
Klick on Page 3 -> get this Adress-> http://.../.../.../2-music-nonstop-next-gen?start=6

But if I then submit a new post or edit a post, then in the address remains the ID of the last post:
http://.../.../.../2-music-nonstop-next-gen/32

If I want to go to page 1 now, the following link will be generated:
http://.../.../.../2-music-nonstop-next-gen/32?limitstart=0

So it does not work to change the page. Without the ID (/32) all work fine again.

I have tried the following:
Tried different Joomle templates
Tried different Kunena templates
All modules, plungins on/off (try &error)
Kunena 5.0.14 & 5.1RC7

But unfortunately without success. Do you have an idea?

It was fixed for me when I updated to 5.1 and also using the RC1 of Blue Eagle. I'm now using 5.1 RC7 and it is still working fine.

When you updated to 5.1 did you fully uninstall 5.0 first as indicated by the Kunena instructions?

Are you also using EasySocial? There is an issue with the Kunena/Easysocial integration on the EasySocial end of things.

Many Thanks!

Have everything uninstalled again and then reinstalled. Now it works with Crypsis.

Thanks a ton guys! I think that I will wait for the official release of 5.1, but it's good to know that there is a solution.
