Hi,

We have a busy forum which we believe after the 5.0.12 update, is causing frequent errors as follows:

Start a new post.

Submit it and get shown:

Notice
Cannot save topic: Subject is empty!

Message
Your message has been successfully posted.

As per attached screen shot.

I cannot see any errors in Kunena logs or Joomla to say why, we have changed no forum config etc.

Can anyone help? I can't find any cause for this. If I check the Tools part of Kunena, I see:

topicMissingMessages TEST FAILED 1 issues
userReadOrphaned TEST FAILED 1 issues

If I choose to Delete broken items, it restores my missing topics but also seems to restore any deleted topics from the past few weeks too (only ones affected by this issue), but doesn't help us work out what is causing the issue.

Joomla 3.8.3

Thanks,

Chris

It is currently letting me post topics - all I did was amend the php version on the hosting server to 7.1 instead of 7.0 - nothing else has changed today, I've made three new topics without issue, I'll keep checking.

However, when ticking the subscription box on the topic, I did get this error:
Cannot save user topic: Topic 0 doesn't exist!
If you spot anything anywhere it would be much appreciated :)
Thanks,
Chris

Hi,

How do I update these? They are disabled anyhow, but they appear to be ones supplied with Kunena yet they have not been updated during any Kunena updates?

Thanks,

Chris

I checked another site I use Kunena on and it had the newer versions of these plugins - I tried to do a manual package upload of the latest Kunena download but it failed with:

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near ') GROUP BY c2.`id`) AS c2 ON c2.newId = c.`id` SET `published` = c2.newPublished' at line 6
Package Update: There was an error installing an extension: com_kunena_v5.0.13.zip

Is this a database issue?

However, plugin versions have been updated now.

i think a other plugin is broken, not kunena. Is see on your error message: newPublished but kunena hasn't code any code with this. see: github.com/Kunena/Kunena-Forum/search?ut...q=newPublished&type=

please check or disable other joomla plugins that you have installed outside the basic joomla plugins.

Thanks, the posting issue has so far been resolved once I did the manual Kunena install :)
