After I upgraded from 4.x to the latest version I was a bit surprised at the loss of the old template. I should read more before mad clicking I know :)

Love the new look both here on the site and in the forums.

That being said, I seem to be having an issue on my site where the Kunena menu will not display most of the time. Every now and then you'll see it.. but most of the time it's not there. Just a white bar across the screen. My template is made from Artisteer, so I thought maybe that was the issue. So I switched it to the prostar template and I still have the issue.

Clearly something else going on but I'm not sure where to look at this point..can someone point me in the right direction?

It seems, you use wrong menu items. That should help you: www.kunena.org/docs/en/troubleshooting/menu-issues

Thanks for the response!

I followed the instructions and set the menu items to menu item alias's.. but I see no change in the behavior.

In that document it says "If you suspect that your main site menu items are wrongly configure (and the Kunena menu is unchanged) then edit these menu items (example: main, top) and change the Menu Item Type to Menu Item Alias."

Not sure I followed that. I set each of the forum menu items to MIA's, but saw no difference. I then set the main/top menu items to MIA's but then the forum module wouldn't load anymore. (500 error, no permissions).

It lacks the complete Kunena menu.
1. Go in backend to "Menus -> Main Menu" and remove the menu item "Forums" (then also from the trash)
2. Navigate to "Kunena -> Tools -> Menu Manager" and click on top on "Restore Kunena Menu"
3. Go back to "Menus -> Main Menu" and publish the new created menu item "Forum"
