Question RSS feed not working?

This may be my own fault, I have not used RSS feeds before, but I am not receiving an RSS feed from the (members only) forum on my site.

I am using Akregator (a KDE product) to receive the feed, but I'm fairly sure this is not the problem as have set up a feed from this forum and it is working.

What have I done? I've right clicked on the RSS icon at the bottom of my forum, selected "copy link address" and pasted that into the config of my feed in Akregator. The same process for this forum works fine. From my forum, nada!

Is it something obvious I've done or not done or is the question too vague so far?

From a "members only" Forum or category, there are no RSS feed. It cannot be checked, whether a member or someone else calls this address.

Damn, I'd hoped I wasn't being *that* ignorant! Oh well.
