Hi there,

I have updated my website from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 and the respective Kunena version successfully (with some help from Rich :-)
Now I have another question:

When I regenerate the Kunena module, after the update, a new ItemID is generated, so all my previous 4SEF links wont work.
Is there any way to regenerate the Kunena module with the original ItemID?

I hope that there is a solution on this point.

Thanks in advance for your advise.

Best regards

Michael

Which modules do you mean? Or do you mean the IDs of the menu items? If you upgrade from K5 to K6, the Kunena menu has to be recreated and each menu item gets a new ID. Each ID is unique and will not be assigned a second time, even if it is no longer used.
I don't know if it would work if you reassigned the old ID to all menu items, but this would require editing the database, which involves a certain risk.

Hi Rich,

thanks for your quick reply.
I will have to manually change the itemid in the database anyway. Either I change it for the Kunena menu items, or I have to change it in my 4SEF database. Otherwise all my SEF links wont work. Or do you have any other idea?

Regarding the Kunena modules, do I have to delete all of them before doing the update, or can I just unpublish them, which would be easier. If I have to delete them, I will have to recreate each one.

Thanks for your kind advise.

Best regards

It's a matter of taste where you change it. You might want to try the Kunena menu items first, as you can always delete them and recreate them if it doesn't work. There aren't many other options, unless you want to customise each URL individually.

I have tested the upgrade countless times, and it has always worked for me when I deactivated the extensions via the extension manager.
However, from time to time I had to uninstall and reinstall an extension afterwards if the update failed for an extension. But you don't lose any settings in the process.

Hi Rich,

Perfect, I will try like this and report if any problem.

Regarding the SEF URLs I will see, which is the easier way and also let you know.

Thanks for your great help.
