Kunena 7.0.11 & Kunena 6.4.16 – Security Updates Released and K7.1 in RC1 2

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of three simultaneous security release : K6.4.16, K7.0.11 and K7.1 RC2. Just a reminder K6.4.16 receives only securities fixes untill end of 2026, so it's advised for users to upgrade to K7.0.11. K7.0.11 is the last release of the K7.0 because it's replaced by K7.1 branch with the stable release in the corner. The translations for K7.1 on crowdin.com/project/kunena-forum-7-1 needs to be checked or improved becasue it has been generated by TM (Translation Machine).

Solved On my site, Firefox has trouble with Message textarea - Seems like whitespace issue

On my testing site, I have installed Kunena 4.
It works well except for Firefox, where I can't properly type in the Message textarea.
Whether I type in the box, or paste text in to the textarea, all whitespace is collapsed.
If I hit the spacebar twice, only one appears. If I hit return, the cursor does nothing but remain on the first line.

I realize there must be something in my Joomla template that is causing this, but I am having a hard time narrowing it down. I was hoping my problem would be obvious for one of your developers, and I could solve this quickly. (note: problem solved, details in reply)

I have narrowed it down to CSS. In my Joomla template, the CSS performs a browser reset.

If I remove the browser reset, the textarea works again. I shall include the basic browser reset line here for reference.

/* Browser Reset */
a, abbr, acronym, address, applet, article, aside, audio, b, big, blockquote, body, caption, canvas, center, cite, code, dd, del, details, dfn, dialog, div, dl, dt, em, embed, fieldset, figcaption, figure, form, footer, header, hgroup, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, html, i, iframe, img, ins, kbd, label, legend, li, mark, menu, nav, object, ol, output, p, pre, q, ruby, s, samp, section, small, span, strike, strong, sub, summary, sup, tt, table, tbody, textarea, tfoot, thead, time, tr, th, td, u, ul, var, video { margin: 0; padding: 0; font-size: 100%; font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit; text-align: inherit; background: transparent; border: 0; font-family: inherit; outline: 0; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: normal; }

I am now going to see if I can fix the problem by choosing white-space: pre

Yep. That did it. Problem fixed.
