It will be nice to have the option to login / create account with Facebook, LinkedIn, twitter, google, etc. in the forum without installing additional components, just kunena by itself.

Private key, App ID, API Key, secret can be set in the kunena backend.

People are too lazy these days, most of them prefer just to click a button instead of fill a registration form.

Hi, 9 out of 10 new users register on our site via social media. It is not only the ease of registration but also the hassle free login (what was my password again?)

In my opinion this is a must have option for every (?) joomla site: we use Easy Profile for this (also has a Kunena integration > via a jomsocial bridge or native via github.com/Ruud68/plg_kunena_easyprofile (made that plugin myself :))

I'm not sure if Kunena should create / duplicate / maintain that functionality by itself. If kunena just calls the joomla login functionality (menu / module) then social media is already implemented.

I would even suggest to not have a login functionality at all in Kunena: see this thread where I describe what can and will go wrong on sites where not only Kunena is running (but eg also a webshop etc.)

Just my thoughts :)

In Kunena we are just displaying fields for login but then it's joomla itself which handle the login. So Kunena has just the login template nothing else.

If Kunena shouldn't have the login template in it, what do-you suggest instead ?

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

Hi Xillibit,

The Kunena login is not showing all the login fields. Missing are the post- and pretext fields.
they are needed on some sites to inform the user before login in.
I use the pre-text field to enter the code {socialconnect} that is needed to display the social media buttons (Easyprofile functionality).

Not sure how the redirect after the login will be working.
In the kunenadiscuss I tried the login feature, but when the user presses the login button and logs in it is redirected (as set in the joomla login module) to a member page > this takes the user away from the post he/she wants to post a reaction to > very discouraging :(

I think the best use case is as follows:
  1. Guest post allowed AND Kunena login disabled > message stating that topic or reply will be posted as guest unless user logs in first.
  2. Guest post allowed AND Kunena login enabled > message with login 'button' (current implementation)
  3. Guest post disabled > current implementation
  4. already logged in: no message (current implementation)

So only change to current implementation is 1. :)

does this make sense?

EDIT: this should also be mimicked in KunenaDiscuss as this plugin shows on joomla content rather then on the forum (with Kunena menu bar / login button)
