Greetings,

I am installing, or attempting to install Kunena 4.0.6 on Joomla 3.4.4. But it gets stuck on the empty progress bar that is overlaying a successful installation screen. And despite the screen showing success, there is no Kunena component in the component menu of the admin screen. Any idea what to do?

Some specs:

SITE INFORMATION
OS Linux l
PHP 5.6.8
MySQLi 5.5.31

clear cache, also browser cache, and try again.

No dice, There was no cache to clear being a fresh install of joomla, but I tried anyway. Cleared browser cache and tried a few different browsers. Still stuck at the image in the screenshot.

I'll keep looking on my end - maybe the fault lays with my trying to first instal kunena 1.7 (to impost smf2 - the install ended in failure). I can always clear out the joomla install and start over again.

@mythus,

I think, you download the Kunena install package and try to install again.

- Please provide your site url if it has been lived.
- Please share tip if it worked fine with you.

Yeah, I tried both methods, the over-the-web install that joomla 3 allows for and the download the package and upload to install methods. Both gave the same result.

I'm really thinking right now that the error might be something getting corrupted from trying to install kunena 1.7 earlier. I'm going to go for the nuclear option and start fresh and see if the same problem happens. At least this way I can rule out ... well... anything done to my joomla installation since it will be a new installation.

Doing a fresh reinstall of Joomla solved the problem. I believe the issue was some configuration got messed up during my attempt to do a Kunena 1.7 install (for the sole purposes of migrating SMF 2 data over). Doing a reinstall and database dump proved to be faster than tracking down the actual errors, especially since I hadn't yet done anything to that joomla install.

It does suck that there is no viable means to migrate my SMF data over, but it is not the end of the world. I'll either have to do the old fashion way of copy/paste or maybe get my hands dirty in the database.
