The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

Hi Everyone,

I looked around for a answer to this question, however found a very old open ended thread from Kunena 1.7 or something to the effect, which provided no conclusion.

I want to have a thread viewable to ALL, but to be able to post in the thread you need to reach a certain post limit eg:... 30 Posts before you can start a post in the specified thread.

Is there an easy way of achieving this?

I am using Kunena 3 on Joomla 2.5 platform.

Thank you in Advance.

Hello Webbrent,

At this moment there is no possibility without some custom development work by a third-party.

As a recommendation I would not focus too much on post limit controls. It makes the workflow of the forum confusing and limited. Also there is a calculated possibility that a specific topics that have post limits will actually have a negative side effect rather then a general positive one. Philosophy for us is to keep discussion workflow simple, and limit discussion activity through gating in access control.

G'day,m Webbrent and welcome to Kunena.

code4life is correct in saying that there isn't an automatic way within Kunena to determin who has posting rights to your forum. Kunena's rank feature works automatically - users are "promoted in rank" depending on how many messages they post - but rank does not equate to forum privileges .

Access to the forum (or parts of your forum) is controlled by Joomla's ACL mechanisms. If a user's account holds the appropriate Joomla ACL then, if you define a category that requires a particular ACL to access it, you can "lock down" categories in this way but, because there's no tie-in between forum rank and ACL then forum rank has no effect.

Perhaps if someone has developed (or might like to develop and share) a solution that somehow automatically turns on a particular ACL that is needed to access a particular category (or categories) this would be nice to know about. I do not know of any such solution that currently exists but, if anyone is aware of it, it would be good if someone shared that information with the community.

The short answer is, as coder4life has writtent, no: this feature does not exist within the standard Kunena product at this time.
