ponnuki wrote: Yes I tried exactly the same as I did here [and] ... you can see that I can post the youtube video, with just posting an url or using the bbcode, but other user when they simply put an url they get the error message from this first post.

Explain to your user how to use the method you used and see if that same method works for them.

ponnuki wrote: And I am not sure if it's kunena that embed the player or if it is Joomla.

Kunena embeds the player.

It should also work if you make sure you use the http:// specification when posting the URL. For example, in your test topic on your website, the user HelmlingerPeter writes:
Code:
youtu.be/Il3FMkSYAOc

instead of writing
Code:
http://youtu.be/Il3FMkSYAOc

This is what happens if you use the correct URL:

So if my user uses the BBcode or the toolbar to embed video it works for them.

When they put a url directly in the body of the message, it used to work ok, but it's been reported that now they get the error message I posted on the first post of this thread, trying to download a php file to the computer of the user - which is a really odd behaviour. They tried with internet explorer and firefox.

When they put the URL directly into the body of the message, tell them not to forget to put http:// in there, too! ;)

Yes they tried both, they remove the http:// in their post in order to list the url they are using.

The bbcode that transform a youtube url to a video player - this is done trough php in the backend or trough javascript?

I am wondering if there is something with conflicting javascript as I had error like that previously embedding google maps.

Let's summarise this topio:

In meg #1 you said that your users get an "error message" when they try to "upload" a YouTube video.

As I said, in msg #2, you cannot upload a YouTube video. I do not read German (I am not sure if my analysis is correct) but the "error message" looks suspiciously like a file dialog asking for the name of a file to be used if someone pressed the Attachments » Add File button.

I could be wrong because I have never seen this kind of thing before and I don't speak German.

You cannot upload a YouTube video. You can only put a link in your forum to a YouTube video. You can put this link using the BBcode video button or you can post the URL of the YouTube video (as long as you use the include http:// in the URL.

Embedding the YouTube player is done with HTML (there's no Javascript) and the Kunena BBcode parser is responsible for embedding the video player. If you are having problems with your forum, it may help us to know more about your site? For example, are you using the standard unmodified Blue Eagle template for the latest version of Kunena on the latest version of Joomla? It looks to me that you are using K 3.0.3 and, as you know, that version is out of date (and this may be the reason why things work here, on this site, but don't work at your site). :dry:

Does this help?

@ponnuki
I see on your first post (image) the error

You want to open the following file:
Typ: appllication/x-httpd-php

Thats no error from Kunena.

@sozzled
Maybe a php or htaccess problem?
