Hi,

i'm using Kunena for a couple of years now, very happy. :)

I want to let users upload their images, no problem there.
Bút: i want to use an external site (30 gb capacity) for all uploaded images.

How can i change to upload location (e.g. to other site) for images in Kunena?
What file(s) need change?

Thanks in advance!

We have had this conversation before . The simple answer to your question is that it is not easy to do. It may not even be possible to do unless you change the whole Joomla security model.

Anyone who understands how Joomla works will know that you need to transfer the privileges assigned to your users to the domain/site where external files are stored. This then means that you're getting into the area of Cross Origin Resource Sharing (CORS). After you get your head around the CORS problems then it may be possible to do what you're thinking of doing but it will come at a hefty cost.

There is no issue if you "suggest" to your users to utilise a remote location where they can host their images. People can upload images (using a separate application) and then link those images into their posts in Kunena. That's one approach but it means that people will be switching between different applications to (1) store the image and (2) link the image.

The simpler approach is to store the images within the same "boundary" that encompasses your website. In other words, use Kunena in the way that it was designed to allow users to upload images within the Kunena forum application and then insert those images into their posts. The only requirement to make this work is to have a webhost that allows you enough space where your users can upload their images (or other attachments). For most people, most webhosting providers have hosting plans that will cater to those space needs.
