Hello,

I'll start off by saying that your forum extension is the best one I have tried and I do like using it as it is easy to use and customize.

However there appears to be a bug with permissions for categories. I am trying to set a particular category to only be viewed by the group "officers" or "managers". What ever group I select the permissions do not lock out non "officer" or "manager users". I have attached the support stuff and also a screenshot of the configuration page for that category. If you could find this bug it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Matt

Hmmm ... I'm not sure there's a bug here because Kunena has been used successfully in hundreds of thousands of websites and, in many thousands of those sites (including this one), where people need to "hide" certain categories from those who should not be able to access them.

These problems usually start and end with how you've setup your Joomla ACL groups.

Therefore, looking at how you've setup your Joomla ACL groups, I can see where you made your mistake. Put your "officers" group as a child of the Registered group.

You may find the topic How to create a "moderators-only" category helpful. The video shows you how you should create your Joomla ACL groups.

I have moved this topic to the General Questions category because I do not think this is a defect in K 3.0.5 but, if I am wrong, we can move it back later.

Hi there,

Thanks for your quick response

Hmm I changed it the way you said and still it was able to be viewed by a regular user (I also noticed that although the user did not have post rights on the forum - they actually had moderator access somehow? even though they are only a registered user)

I have now Uninstalled and Reinstalled Kunena Extensions (didn't delete database tables) and it has now started working.. weird

Anyway thanks for you help

Cheers
Matt
