It has always been the case that people can upload more images. It does not matter if you restrict users to one attachment or 101 attachments, the limit is only on how many images you can upload at any one time.

You will find that, in your case, your users will be limited to 3 attachments when they create a new post, then they can add another 3 attachments by editing their own message, then they can add another 3 if they edit their message again, and so on.

As far as I know, there is no built-in way to do this. If this is an essential requirement then you will need to make a custom change to the PHP source code (please don't ask me which file(s) you need to change because I do not know that answer) and any changes you make to the PHP source code will invalidate our ability to provide you with further support. In other words, if you change the original Kunena source code then you are totally responsible for resolving all future problems you may have, including the ability to be able to upgrade from K 3.0.4.

My advice is to accept the current mechanism (even if it is not 100% to your liking) as just "one of those things". The chances of people abusing this feature are very small. I would not be too concerned about it happening. If someone starts abusing this feature by posting hundreds of messages (and you don't like it happening) then you can always lock the topic, can't you, and they won't be able to edit their message and post new attachments after that. ;)

Just remember that any custom changes you make to the original Kunena source files will need to be made again when you upgrade to a future version of Kunena. ;)
