The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.3.0 [K 6.3.0] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.4.x/5.0.x/5.1.x. If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

Hi guys,

I need some help, I've update the Kunena forum to the latest version when I try to acces the user manager from the Kunena dash board I get that information:

Fatal Error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/home/xxxxxxxxx/plugins/kunena/kunena/avatar.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in plugins/kunena/kunena/kunena.php on line 31

The error was detected in the Kunena - Kunena Plugin.

On /home/xxxxxxxxx/plugins/kunena/kunena/avatar.php' looks like that require_once __DIR__ . "/avatar.php";

My request to you guys to tell me whe I should introduce that path= _path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear' on line 31.

Here is the configuration from the server:

Try to reinstall Kunena manually from the package. Seems a plugin was missing from the installation (can happen sometimes when something was messed up over time on the older installation). Also make sure you have the plugin enabled in Joomla for the avatars.

Note: Always make backups before you do an upgrade and reinstallation.

go to your ftp. And delete plugins/kunena manually. And check the dir permissions from plugins.

Looks like you can't overwrite the kunena plugin dir.

And try again.

If you are inexperienced with these tools and Joomla I highly suggest you discuss this with your webhost or higher a Joomla administrator to take a look at your installation.

Please do not post you configuration report on every post unless something about your environment changes.

Due to limited information about your site, host, and environment we can only guess some probably causes about why you are getting this error.

One guess this looks like a possible permission issue. Even though your site is 777 that does not mean it will be writable. Sometimes web-servers are configured with different user/groups (UNIX permission system) from the FTP program. If the FTP server and the Apache server do not share the same user/group files will not be writable. This means if you upload files from the FTP program that have a different usergroup then the Apache process, Joomla will not be able to access these directories as anything Joomla executes is coming from Apache. The permissions user/groups is not necessarily modifiable by you and you must diagnose this with your hosting provider

Another guess is this is a Joomla issue. Generally Joomla installer/uninstaller can sometimes have problems when uninstalling an extension because it is expecting something to be where those files are. What happens is the installer ends early and does not remove the necessary database Joomla entries to the database to allow the installer to run correctly. You will need to open phpMyAdmin and edit the database manually for some of these options.

First option, restore from backup. (Risk: Minor, Experience: Beginner/Moderate)

Second option, which is to add back those folders and files of Kunena found in the the package and try the uninstall procedure again. This requires some knowledge about how Joomla names their folder and files and the place to put them. You may need to rename some of the folders from the Kunena Package/ (Risk: Medium, Experience: Moderate)

Third option is to reset everything related to Kunena in Joomla EXCEPT the _kunena specific data tables. Do NOT delete any TABLES with _kunena in them. You are only deleting entries in Joomla database tables. You should remove everything Kunena related in _extensions and _assets. You should also remove all Kunena files manually in the Joomla installation Components (Site and Administrator), Modules, Plugins. The installation needs to be cleaned, except the database tables. Understand this method is highly not recommended.(Risk: High, Experience: Expert)

WARNING: Make sure you backup everything before proceeding.

Again, if you are inexperienced with these tools and Joomla I highly suggest you discuss this with your webhost or higher a Joomla administrator to take a look at your installation.
