Kunena 7.0.6 & Kunena 6.4.12 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.6 [K 7.0.6] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the twelfth version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

This category is for discussing issues with the K 3.0 Blue Eagle template.

As general background, My Joomla site template makes a mess of Kunena .

We do not answer questions about other templates for Kunena here.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

Solved K 3.0.3: How do I make the Blue Eagle background transparent?

Hi,

I couldn't find this posted earlier, so here goes:

I just upgraded to Kunena 3.0.3 yesterday. In configuring Blue Eagle in Kunena 3.0.1, I used all transparent settings (just deleting the colors that are defaults). It worked great.

When installing 3.0.3, my blanks were replaced with the Blue Eagle default Blues. Erasing those now shows a nice confirmation of transparency in the color icon for each setting. But when I save the changed template, the default blue comes back in all the fields. I think the code abhors a vacuum rather than substituting a "transparent" color.

I guess I could override it in CSS, but it'd be great if there was a simple fix.

Thanks for all you do.

Please see How do I change the colours of my template in Kunena?

Simple changes, such as making the Kunena forum template background transparent, should be added to your site template. Search for the keyword "transparent" in this forum (I think we've discussed this before) and you will probably find the answer you are looking for.

The short answer is, yes, you override the forum template background colour (make it transparent) with CSS. [strike]That's how it's done.[/strike]

EDIT: Not sure, see msg #6 in this topic.

Fair enough, and thanks.

But in my defense, Blue Eagle 3.0.1 does work differently. Leaving the fields blank resulted in transparency for backgrounds and the default template link color for linked text.

I know because (a) I'm sitting here looking at otherwise identical test sites (one with Kunena and Blue Eagle 3.0.1, one with 3.0.3) and (b) I didn't alter the CSS for the Blue Eagle 3.0.1 template except to blank out the fields in its configuration. You can't blank out the fields in the Blue Eagle 3.0.3 configuration.

By the way, either template does make it easy to set colors if you want them, so I'm not complaining. But for the very few of us who might want transparency, Blue Eagle 3.0.1 worked even better. (Unless, of course, it worked for me by some fluke.)

Thanks for moving this to the right category. Sorry about that!

I'm marking this as resolved.

I looked at your forum - wasn't easy to find - and I see you have a transparent background so I would say that you've solved your problem.

It's entirely possible that the K 3.0.3 template may not be as easy to adapt as K 3.0.1 but, the main thing to remember, is that K 3.0.3 is a sizeable rewrite of what was there in K 3.0.1, mainly to make it more responsive (particularly on mobile devices) and it's possible that the developers may have made an unintentional change that affect you in particular. If others have similar experiences to yours I think we should hear from them. :)

Again, fair enough. That makes sense. Blue Eagle 3.0.3 actually is a very nice rewrite.

But it's no wonder it was tough to find. All my test sites, including the one in the configuration report, are allegedly offline. Even the root site is offline.

Or at least they think they are, and they convinced me. :( They all have a big link that says "Forum" on top.

I'm still opaquely non-transparent on the site in this post.

I re-read the initial problem statement more carefully - notice how I've made a couple of edits to improve the meaning a bit better - and I'm coming to the conclusion that what you had before (in the way that earlier versions of the Kunena Template Manager behaved to produce transparent backgrounds) was an "undocumented feature". Indeed, this feature you described was unknown to me!

Which only goes to show how few among the development team use/test Kunena with a transparent background! :pinch:

Rather than flagging the loss of the undocumented feature as a defect, I have asked the developers to comment. The matter has been reported as GitHub issue #2098 . If the developers decide that this is a defect, I will move the topic to our Kunena 3.0 Support (reporting defects) category.

Thanks for letting us know. Cheers.
