Kunena 7.0.9 & Kunena 6.4.14 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.9 [K 7.0.9] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x./6.1.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

This category contains miscellaneous, uncategorised user contributions, (templates, modules, plugins and hacks) relating to older versions of Kunena that are no longer supported.

The topics in this category are for historical interest only. Owing to the structural changes that occurred in K 2.0, many of the ideas in these topics will not work with later versions and, for that reason, the topics are locked.

Hello,

How can I show administrators at user list? Is there any easy setting for this general issue?

The reason why this "feature" was removed from Kunena was after hundreds of repeated requests from members of the community to see this removed because of suggestions that, by showing this information, this would jeopardise your site security. Regardless of the points for and against the argument, from K 2.0 the ability to display administrators on the user list has been removed. See Kunena Features

Assuming you are willing to accept the known risks and are prepared to (possibly) compromise your site security there is no "easy setting" that can be changed. You can, however, modify the source code but that is a custom job. If someone is prepared to show you how to do this (for no payment) then I wish you the best of luck.

As an alternative, the easiest way to allow other members of your community to see the account names of people who have the ability to perform special administrator functions, is for the administrators of your site to use two accounts. One account for special, privileged, activities and another account for normal day-to-day activities. This is fairly commonly adopted best-practice and it has been best practice for a generation or more. Have your administrators use a less-privileged account but assign those accounts moderator privileges. Reserve the use of administrator accounts for occasions when your administrators need to perform administrator functions. The fact that administrators' account names don't appear on the Kunena user list should therefore be a non-issue if your administrators have other accounts that are listed.
