Question Can Kunena Forum replace JomSocial Discussions within Groups

I have Kunena and JomSocial working well and nicely integrated together. Users, however, have a hard time with figuring out when to use the "forum" and when to use JomSocial "Discussions".

Is there a way to replace the JomSocial "Discussion" feature of a group with a category from Kunena? As in having that category actually show up in within the JomSocial Group?

As far as this question is concerned, we, here, at www.kunena.org rarely use the JomSocial discussion feature. Instead we use the forum for our group discussions - those that you see on the forum as well as a many other categories that are "internal" to the project team members. So, in the sense that you can define certain categories within your forum for various discussions within your community, the answer is yes.

That's a slightly different question. The integration between Kunena and JomSocial requires collaborative effort from both project teams. That's more of a question that you need to discuss with the developers of JomSocial. I don't know the specific answer but it's something that another member of the Kunena project team may be able to respond to you with a better answer.

I think that there's no way to turn off discussions in JomSocial groups, but I've not checked it lately. You need to ask if you can do that in JomSocial forums. There might be parts that are missing, but the first question is if wall and discussions can be disabled.

After that we need to make variation of latest module, which works inside JomSocial.

Understood. It isn't even required that we "turn off" discussion in JomSocial. A simple module that users can leverage to show a module in group wall would work just fine for most. The user interface issue is that having them join groups is a great idea, however, they then have to go to the forum to "share" with eachother. Simply looking for a more seamless way for them to interact. There seems to be quite a few out there who would like to see this work; the one external solution doesn't seem to have current development.

I've uses JS G Kunena in the past with great hopes but cant understand why they continue to sell a bridge that no longer works I would collaborate financially with a developer who would build a bridge that would remove the JomSocial forums from the groups and drop in a Kunena Forum. I am thinking all that needs to be done is just modifying the Jomsocial group page to hold a link to the assigned forum. I have a camping club and made a forum category for each jomsocial group. I linked the group page "create discussion" to prove my Kunena forum main page and deleted the line of code that asked jomsocial group page to display the "lackluster jomsocial discussion forum" my true need is to take advantage of the category email subscription assignment and make every group member assigned to receive forum emails. The changes I think need to be made in Jomsocial group page. and updates of the two components needs to be addressed each time to check that the hack works
