Kunena 6.3.8 Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.3.8 [K 6.3.8] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.4.x/5.0.x/5.1.x/5.2.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.3
Note: Please go to the Kunena Dashboard after an upgrade so that the Kunena database tables are also updated.

This category contains miscellaneous, uncategorised user contributions, (templates, modules, plugins and hacks) relating to older versions of Kunena that are no longer supported.

The topics in this category are for historical interest only. Owing to the structural changes that occurred in K 1.7, many of the ideas in these topics will not work with later versions and, for that reason, the topics are locked.

Hello,

Is there a database schema for Kunena?

We want to write SQL queries to ascertain:

1. Average posts per member;
2. Average member total login time;
3. Average login interval per member;
4. Average member participation, i.e. number of post interactions

Thanks,
Oisin

I don't think Kunena 1.6.4 is supported any longer you should upgrade to Kunena 1.7.2.

Search in the Documentation menu and you will find out the database information I believe.

Please read the FAQ.
Only one question per topic.

I am not aware of a published database schema for Kunena (any version) but, any person with a reasonable understanding of databases and SQL should not have any real problems figuring out what you would need to do. Kunena is open source software; the source code contain most of the technical information you are looking for but the information may not be packaged in a form that you will necessarily find easy-to-follow. Some of your questions can be answered with the data in Kunena but some of them cannot because Kunena does not keep records of the information you are enquiring about.

Kunena does not keep data on average length of stay by users, the frequency of logins, the longevity of the login session or the interval of time between one login and the next. That kind of information can, however, be access from the webserver logs.

I am not sure I understand what you mean by the term "average member participation". Without using specific terminology, what data (in your opinion) do you think you would need to use to calculate that result?

For "average posts per member" I would assume that you want to know the answer to "total number of messages divided by number of members". Correct? Well that's easy to do. The table xxx_kunena_messages has all the messages (so you just want to do a total count) and the table xxx_kunena_users has all the users (so, again, you just want to do a total count) and divide one by the other.

K 1.6.4 is not supported. Yes, you should upgrade to K 1.7.2.

I have moved this topic to a more appropriate category and I invite other users (who may share your particular interests) to participate. I think that you will quickly discover, however, that there are very few people who still use K 1.6.4 who may share your interests, however. Perhaps if you upgraded, change the subject in the original post, you may get more interest in these things? ;)
