Hello. I have TOO MANY queries on my Kunena 1.6.4 (from 250-400 to 1000+, omg!) forum and i don't really know why this happened. Please check queries here (i have created the copy of site with debug mode-on) -

I use CB integration (avatars, profiles, etc). CB - latest version.


History: long time ago i was use fireboard, after that i update to kunena 1.5.x and some time ago i have updated to 1.6.4, i don't know maybe it is important.

p.s. here i have 1000+ queries - www.u-sm.ru/z/index.php/svobodnoe-obsche...-offtop/Page-22.html I can't believe it.

To see real queries user must be logged in (you can use UJASSS / UJASSS for login and password).

See fxstein's comments in K 1.6 sh404SEF stops Thank You, RSS feeds, PDF and message previews . I don't know whether this will help but it will give you something to think about.

I have tried to configure sh404sef and have done some improvements. First off all i have changed on kunena config in sh404sef "use sh404SEF plugin if available" to "Use Joomla! router.php", it really helped. Also i have done the same with community builder, here the screenshot (sorry for Russian language on it, i hope you'll understood):



It really decrease number of queries - from 1000+ to ~700. In forum lists queries decreased too - from ~160 to ~70. Hope it will help some ppl. Waiting for next release of kunena.

Kunena 1.6 itself tries to keep number of the queries as low as 30-40. Kunena 2.0 does even better job.

Which reminds me that I really need to contact sh404SEF people (as I promised to them)..

We also need to get CB to use the query caching too.

As Matias said anything over 40 queries should be considered too much. Many components and modules add to that and in man cases that is multiplying the number of queries.

Kunena 1.6 adds 18 some queries on top of Joomla, for comparison phpBB 3.x runs at 14 some.

Joomla is a blessing as platform but it can quick turn into a curse if you install too many component and plugins.
Naturally Joomla calls URL and user APIs. When installed on Joomla proper that keeps queries very low. When some of see APIs get hookedinto by third party extensions and fire extra queries, it gets out of control very quickly.

If in question, take your forum database onto a barebones Joomla install, only install Kunena and check the queries.

We do user prefetch queries for Joomla and JomSocial (it supports this via it's own API). we encourage ALL component developers to profile prefetch interfaces that allow us to turn on that integration feature beyond JomSocial and Joomla itself.
