The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.
The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.
Question sh404SEF causes site login to malfunction
I have a strange problem with login
I have menu links to particular forum (category) - on the landing page I see all the topics in the category. At the top of the page is a standard Kunena login
When I enter a valid userid and password it clears the fields and then keeps the Hello Guest prompt
If I ask for a new password it sends a token but when I enter the token I get told that it is invalid
If I try and login via the Index or Recent Topics then it works - can login no problem!!
Kunena worked fine until about a week ago and I havent changed anything on the backend config - just added more content to the general site
This is out of the box K1.6 with J1.5.23 - I upgraded yesterday to K1.6.4 in the hope that it would help - no such luck
If I login via standard J login then it works fine
SH404SEF installed but no changes u/g in the last month or so
Any ideas kind people? Much appreciated!!!
Here is my config file

I can assure you that we have used out-of-the-box, "vanilla-flavoured" K 1.6.4 and we do not encounter your issues. Your configuration is not "out of the box" for the following reasons:golden0 wrote: This is out of the box K1.6 with J1.5.23 - I upgraded yesterday to K1.6.4 in the hope that it would help - no such luck
(1) You are using ah404SEF which is known to cause problems with Kunena - particularly URL routing problems like the one we are now discussing - if sh404SEF is not properly configured. For many people the only viable solution is to disable sh404SEF entirely and they then discover that it's "all systems go" as far as Kunena is concerned.
(2) You have installed the Kunena Login module. Although I am not suggesting that the login module is responsible for the problem, this module is definitely not "out of the box"; this is a separately installed accessory feature. Your configuration report shows that you are not even using this module (login integration = Joomla) and you probably do not need this module at all.
(3) You are using "legacy mode". If you carefully read K 1.6 Technical Requirements and K 1.6 Installation Guide you will see that "legacy mode" is no longer classified as a requirement. In fact, legacy mode (or, in particular, the Joomla extension(s) that you have installed on your site that require legacy mode) could very well be responsible for the problems you are having.
(4) You have a highly customised menu that is not "out of the box" and this is certainly an area that we need to pay careful attention to. The target URLs of the menu links conflict with one another.
In my earlier advice to you, I asked your to provide us with your unedited configuration report. You chose to not follow that advice and your configuration report shows evidence that you have tampered with it. When people edit their configuration report it makes it very difficult for us to see, exactly, the problems that they are having (even if they don't think we need that information). The Kunena developers have constructed the report so that certain information is accessible only the administrators and forum moderators while other users cannot see that information. There is no need for you to conceal or obfuscate that information unless you don't trust us. For us to be able to help you effectively, you need to provide us with honest information upfront.
I do not doubt your recollection but I have my suspicions about the facts. Adding more content to the general site is a somewhat vague description. "More content" could mean Joomla articles or forum messages but it could, just as easily, mean other Joomla extensions, too. It is therefore possible that it's another Joomla extension that is responsible for the changed behaviour and we need to eliminate that possibility from the investigation. Can we do that?golden0 wrote: Kunena worked fine until about a week ago and I havent changed anything on the backend config - just added more content to the general site
I am not saying that there is not a genuine problem here because evidently there is. I am, however, saying that we lack the capacity to investigate the complaint until we eliminate, piece by piece, the possible causes until we're left with a solid basis. Can you help us with this process, please?
Can you recall what "content" you added to your site in the course of the past week when the problems first surfaced?

Thanks for your help!
1. 404SEF - I put this in as a last resort after J! made over 1K false URL's that Google didn't like - so I am stuck with this - I hope there is a work round with Kunena
2. Login Module - I put it on to try and solve the problem - I guess it made no difference as it isn't properly configured - could that help?
3.Legacy Mode - interesting point - I will double check that I don't need it and then disable
4. I didnt understand about the menu structure - is this something I have done wrong on K or on J!? I would love to be standard - no logic here just the only way that I got K to work - any guidelines would be great...!
5. Config - The only thing that I changed is the domain name - 100% - I thought that this was prudent as happens on most J! discussion sites - if there is an offline email I will happily share all the details
6. All I have added since I last managed to get this to work is articles on teh J! side - there have been no K posts and no changes to the J config (unless SH404SEF suddenly made changes of its own initiative)
Thanks & have a beer!

Does it work when you disabled the sh404sef?

It did - but it also worked for 2 months after I installed sh404sef

I am moving this topic to the sh404SEF category. It is apparent that there is a problem with sh404SEF and not with Kunena. You are advised to report this matter to the development team of sh404SEF.golden0 wrote: It did - but it also worked for 2 months after I installed sh404sef
Have you implemented any of the other recommendations that I made earlier?
