Sorry to hear about this issue, Kymmy, but thanks for the "heads up".
As you know,
Kunena just uses the standard, no-frills, vanilla-flavoured Mootools library (whatever version is installed in your version of Joomla). As you've probably seen
written in the past
, this should also be the approach used by other Joomla extension developers, too.
More recently, particularly since Microsoft released
IE9, the different browser products have been fiddling around with their respective Javascript engines and we're continuing to find differences in Javascript behaviour between one browser and another. The simple fact, however, remains that the Kunena BBcode toolbar and associated behviour is driven by
Javascript - by Mootools, to be more specific - and, as long as Mootools is not being clobbered by something else, everything should work.
No-one enjoys a finger-pointing exercise; it solves nothing. It's not surprising that some Joomla extension developers may deny their product is the cause of problems with other Joomla extensions but we have to accept that that's sometimes the way it goes. I'll test your claims later to see if I can reproduce the
uddeIM issue. Perhaps others could contribute their experiences to this discussion too.
Thanks for bringing this matter to everyone's attention.
