Hi, I have added a couple of forums, but they aren't appearing! Can you have a look at my site and see what the problem may be? (My site is still being built)

gooze.co.uk/index.php?option=com_kunena

P.S. I am a bit of a newb. :P
Thanks in advance!

G'day BenAdamson :) Usually - and I say "usually" because there may be unexpected or unusual reasons why your often written-about problem seems to occur - this problem falls into one of three categories in decreasing order of likelihood:
  1. You have made a change to the default/initial Kunena configuration settings (see docs.kunena.com/index.php/Kunena_Configuration ). As the first step in troubleshooting your problem you should consider restoring all your settings to their original values or, at least, use the suggested tips that I wrote at docs.kunena.com/index.php/Configuration_Tips .
  2. There may have been a problem with installing Kunena. You should be using Kunena 1.0.9. If you have installed Kunena 1.5.0a you should uninstall that version and install Kunena 1.0.9. (Note: I am not aware of an officially-approved uninstall procedure for Kunena 1.5.0a. It should be a matter of using the standard Joomla uninstall function. There is, however, divided opinion as to whether this is all you need to do. There has been conflicting advice here, among the forum moderators, that you may also need to DROP all jos_fb_ SQL tables, also, before installing Kunena 1.0.9.) Please check that your system meets the minimum technical requirements to run Kunena: see docs.kunena.com/index.php/Technical_Requirements .
  3. There may be a conflict between another, 3rd-party Joomla extension or template. I have seen several requests for assistance from people experiencing all manner of difficulties, particularly with the Rockettheme templates. You might, therefore, troubleshoot your problem with a more "standard" Joomla template (such as the JA_Purity or rhuk_milkyway ones) to eliminate this possibility. You may, therefore, need to disable all other 3rd-party components to determine if any of these are causing the problem that you are currently experiencing.

Could you PM some backend access?
Anyway, as sozzled says 1.5.0a is not recommended for install, as in just an alpha version ;)

Thanks everybody for your answers.

1. @Sozzled - Sorry for the stupid question, but how exactly do you change all settings to default?(Is there a button or do you have to do it manually?)

2. @Sozzled - I first installed 1.5 alpha, but decided that I didn't want the bugs, so I uninstalled using the Joomla uninstaller and installed 1.0.9.

3. @Sozzled - I have tried it with a basic template, but there was no change.

4. @johnnydement - I will PM you an account with backend access. I will have to trust you ;)

BenAdamson:
  1. There's no such thing as a stupid question. It is inevitable that users will fiddle with a product's settings (especially a product like Kunena that has 134 individual settings) and will change a number of them at the one time without knowing the consequences. There is no "return the product to factory settings" button. Because of the inevitability that people change these things, this is also the most common cause of people's problems.
  2. Installing Kunena 1.5.0a is also the second-highest mistake that newcomers to the product have experienced. Fortunately there are now better instructions to help you deal with that (see docs.kunena.com/index.php/Downgrading_Kunena ).
  3. I still have suspicions about the Rockettheme templates being responsible for the condition of your site (as suggested by this posting that concerns the non-operation of the BBcode). However, changing the Joomla template will be no help if you haven't eliminated (1) and (2) above as probable causes.
  4. There's an old saying "Give a man a fish: feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish: feed him for a lifetime." I think you should learn to solve your problems, with our help, yourself without having someone else solve them for you. :)
