Question Install Error: -1 - An error has occurred. Unable to create target folder

Hi,

I am a beginner to Joomla and Kunena so please forgive any ignorance on my part. I am building a test site and have been able to sucessfully install many components but I got the above error when install the alpha version of Kunena Forums.

I tried deleting and reinstalling but get the same error.

It still appears in the components menu and you can navigate your way around and even sync the profiles. But when you try to update the configuration you get this error meesage below also:

Fatal error: Call to a member function addStyleSheet() on a non-object in /var/www/html/dev.suignite.org.uk/components/com_kunena/class.kunena.php on line 71.

Once you have triggered this error you can no longer navigate your way around, any time you pick Kunena form the components menu you go straight back to this error

Any help would be great!

I have same error with kunena_v1.5.0a_b1412_2009-04-03. After install with this error my kunena is working in backend but on frondend i get error when i try to use search function.
here is the screenshot

Please install Kunena 1.0.9, this is stable and without errors.

Kunena 1.5.0 is for testing only, not for live and productive sites.

The same error happens in 1.0.9 though...

I'm sorry, SUscotland, but as you will see from many other reports of problems with Kunena 1.5.0a, you are not the first and - I expect - you will be far from the last novice to have made the mistake of thinking that Kunena 1.5.0a was the right version to choose.

So I say this with genuine sympathy for your situation, that you should do your best to uninstal Kunena 1.5.0a and, to be totally safe, DROP all tables that have fb_ prefixes from your SQL database. After you've done those two things (I'm sorry, but it's not totally straightforward to go back to the older version), enable Joomla "legacy" mode and install Kunena 1.0.9. I think you'll find the experience will be a much more pleasant one to the introduction you've just experienced.
