(Due to the fact, that Lintzy is no longer available, I try a new POSTING:)

First of all, it has to be mentioned that I use Joomfish for organization of my translations and I have already translated most of my pages, modules and so on. My problem is, that the language of my website does not change, even if I lock in as a user having another language. Example:

- Website is shown in GERMAN
- user X has ENGLISH as his default language in his user profile
- if user X has logged in successfully, the website is still shown in GERMAN, not in ENGLISH
=> User X has to use the Joomfish Language-Selector in order to change the language form GERMAN into ENGLISH

This is insatisfying and I fear it will be the same with Kunena, i. e. I fear that the user will have to change the language of the forum manually even though his default language is properly set. I have to cope with this, before I decide to use the Kunena-Forum-Module.

Can anyone help me with this?

Greetings

BigL

I believe that you have this issue also elsewhere than just in Kunena?

My wife has small site with two domains: Finnish and English. It also ignores language that is specified in the users profile. JoomFish language selector works.. Site does not have Kunena installed, so this issue/feature seems to be related to JoomFish. Maybe there's a configuration option for this?

Hello Matias,

thank you for your posting. Indeed, this seems to be a problem of Joomfish and not of Kunena. But somewhere else in this forum i have found a posting from Lintzy and she was telling that the language settings in the user profile have an effect on the language of the Kunena-Forum. Thus, i think that she does not have this problem. I just want to get rid of this problem, before I install the Kunena-Forum.

Does anybody else know a solution?

We are no running joomFish here on the site but you can select your preferred language in the user profile of Kunena. We have made Kunena follow the Joomla language selection for each user as we are using the joomla 1.5/1.6 language file.

Not sure about your issue with JoomFish itself.

We love stars on the Joomla Extension Directory . :-)

OK, you are not running Joomfish on this site, because you are not translating its content, i. e. your visitors may only change the language of modules etc. but not the language of theír content. Indeed, in this case you don´t need Joomfish. But I am also translating the contents I am providing, so that I have to use Joomfish. Or is the an alternative?

You may want to ask from JoomFish team how to get default translation by user language, so there's no need to change it from the module.
