Can't upgrade Kunena was created by David Li
Hi, on 7.0.8. neither 7.0.9 nor 7.1.0 will upgraded:
Copy file failed
Package Update: There was an error installing an extension: com_kunena_v7.1.0-BETA3.zip
Latest Joomla 6.1.3
Looked at file permissions and ownership.
I FTP'd the install and used Joomla's Upload - same.
cleared update and joomla and template cache.
All other Joomla updates seem to work fine which would indicate Joomla is fine.
My two test sites WERE able to upgrade.
Any ideas on other things to check? I am trying to keep these three sites in synch to make it easier to upgrade to a newer site template.
thanx in advance!

Hello,
Check that the zip of the Kunena packages are not corrupted
Check that the right of following directories have proper read/write persmissions :
/tmp - Joomla! copies all uploaded files in this folder, it is absolutely necessary that it is writeable
/administrator/components - component backend files are being placed here
/administrator/language - backend language files for all extension types (components / plugins / modules) are being placed in this folder
/administrator/modules - all backend area modules are installed here
/components - component frontend files are stored in this folder
/language - frontend language files for all extension types (components / plugins / modules) can be found here
/modules - frontend modules will be installed here
/plugins - all plugins are being installed in this folder
/media - some extensions place files in this folder. It is mainly used for media files, such as images or videos.

Both Kunena version downloads don't work, so I assume they are not both corrupt.
All files / folders were checked for writeable and are set correctly. Joomla System Information agrees.
Folders are 755 and Files are 644.
No other Joomla upgrades are having the same issue, so Joomla seems happy. It's just something different with Kunena upgrades....
So, still at a loss. Thanx for the response!

post_max_size: "Sets max size of post data allowed. This setting also affects file upload. To upload large files, this value must be larger than upload_max_filesize."
Try by Extensions >> Extension Manager >> Install from Directory, by uploading the unzipped package on your server before doing it
Try this temporaly to see the path where the copy fails :In Joomla! 4.x and newer:
edit the libraries/vendor/joomla/filesystem/src/Folder.php file
The code above will improve how the error message is displayed by adding the source and destination folders to it. This way, you will be able to know exactly which folders do not have enough permissions set.

- look for the following code (around lines 88-90):
Code:
if (!@copy($sfid, $dfid)) {
throw new FilesystemException('Copy file failed', -1);
}
- and replace it with this one:
Code:
if (!@copy($sfid, $dfid)) {
throw new FilesystemException('Copy file failed '.$sfid.' => '.$dfid, -1);
