I recently migrated a site from the last version of Joomla 3.x to the current 5.x version.  I disabled the Kunena Forum to allow the Joomla update to proceed, then tried to install the latest Kunena version over the original installation.  Obviously, that doesn't work.  So, following information from third-party sites suggesting that I could uninstall Kunena in Joomla 5.x and then install the new version without losing data, I uninstalled all plugins, but unfortunately, the 5.2.14 Forum Package won't uninstall.  Do I have to revert to a backup site from the 3.x Joomla version to uninstall it?

The problem is that you're quite far behind, and a direct upgrade from K5.2 to K7.x won't work. But uninstalling isn't usually necessary.
You can try installing Kunena 6.4.9 over it. If that works, you must then open the Kunena Dashboard so that the Kunena database tables are updated and any "deprecated" messages disappear.  docs.kunena.org/en/basics/upgrade/upgrade-k7-x
Only after that, once everything is working, can you upgrade to K7.x.
Be sure to back up all Kunena tables and the /media/kunena folder beforehand.

Important! Always create a backup before you make any changes to your website!
