Hello,
I had the same problem after restoring the site with Akeeba, which I did over the existing site files. No doubt a file was not overwritten by the restoration and created this bug, because after deleting everything from the site directory and redoing the restoration, I no longer had any errors.

When a backup is unpacked over an existing installation, only files that are present in the backup file are overwritten. However, if the existing installation (in this case K7.0) contains additional or renamed files, these remain unchanged.
This also explains why it worked again after deleting and reinstalling the backup. Therefore, when restoring a complete backup (or an older backup), it is always better to delete the installation and the database first.

Important! Always create a backup before you make any changes to your website!

If you have restored the Akeeba Backup with kickstart, you should change the entry in the top right corner of the window from “DROOP” to “DROOP ALL” on the page with the basic settings before restoring the database. This will completely delete the database before the new data is written.

The site is back running the way it was before the disaster happend. Fingers crossed.

After uninstalling Kunena 6.4.8 again, I checked the folders where Kunen is being installed and they were empty. Then I reinstalled the backup and selected DROP ALL tables of the database.

Kunena 6.4.9 is now available that mainly seems to make Kunena compatible for upgrading to Joomla 6.

I'm planning to wait to upgrade to Joomla 6, waiting for other extesions being used to be compatible with Joomla 6.

The site is running Joomla 5.4.2 and PHP 8.3.28.

Are there any reasons why I should upgrade Kunena from 6.4.8 to 6.4.9 at the moment?
