Hopelessly lost on how to proceed was created by adetia
Due to a variety of unforseen circumstances, I find myself in quite the state. Please bear with me as I try to describe my predicament:
Present Day, i have a joomla 3.10. I am currently unable to migrate to Joomla 4, for a variety of reasons, but mostly because when I try to update the php, (currently 7.4.10), the website breaks.
I am also running Kunena which works perfectly well, but is on version 5.0.9. Its my understanding, that it might be easier for me to simply start over, by deleting my joomla and starting over with the present Joomla, the present PHP and the present Kunena, but I don't want to lose my forum data.
I had help in exporting all the data from the database, etc, but, I've also read something saying that if I updated Kunena to 5.10, that i Could do an export, then, essentially once i have joomla/php updated, install the new kunena and import the forums.
Advice as the best way to proceed?

If your Joomla site displays an error when upgrading to a different PHP version,
then there are still outdated extensions or plugins on the site.
Have you followed this explanation?

Your Kunena version is outdated. Update to 5.2.14 first. Joomla 4 works with PHP 7.4, so you might have another extension or template that is outdated or not working with PHP 7.4.

Except the suggestions that you are told here which are good (to Update to Kunena 5.2.14 and check others outdated pugins / extensions) I also have one more suggestion.
You use PHP 7.4.10, stay to 7,x BUT update to the latest version of PHP 7.x which is PHP 7.4.33. This could also solve your problem.
The PHP version 7.4.10 you have now has been repleased on 03 Sep 2020 and the latest of 7.x (7.4.33) has been repleased on 03 Nov 2022 (2+ years later).
I think that it will help and it is generally better to have a most recent version (even if it is outdated too).
