So I took a backup of the site and installed on my localhost. I then reinstalled the package via the installation page and all was well including the update site. There were no errors.

I have just carried it out on the live site , theer was a partial installation error (it said something like 1000 bytes ) sorry I panicked and clicked off. Site is working, it shows the correct version but there still isn't the update site listed.

Please help!

Thanks
Terry

You could try your last question.
But also post a Kunena report we may see something more.
And do you sometimes use communitubuilder? I also encountered an old similar problem
www.joomlapolis.com/forum/255-developer-...ied-key-was-too-long
and it also seems to have something to do with the database sql collation to utf8mb4_general_ci
so if you use community builder
Could you also uninstall this first to see if that helps?

Thanks for the reply. No community builder installed.
I actually thought "f*ck it" what harm can I do, so I put the site in maintenance mode and then uninstalled the component, (this also uninstalled my paid template). I then reinstalled the full downloaded file and reinstalled an updated template all without errors and now I have the update site back
So fingers crossed all OK.

What worries me a little is the longevity of Joomla / Kunena as each of the recent upgrades to both seem to be winky bottom moments.

Cheers
Terry
