Question Is there an upgrade path from v5.X to v6.X?

I have a stable Joomla site v3.10.4 and Kunena v5.2.7.

I am looking to use the one click upgrade to Joomla v4.05. Kunena v6 shows it is compatible with this. However, the currently installed version shows in the checker as NOT being compatible.

Can this be upgraded somehow?

Will leaving v5.X installed, upgrading Joomla then installing Kunena v6 work? Will it upgrade the Kunena installation brining in the existing content?

Does Kunena have to be uninstalled, Joomla upgraded then Kunena v6 installed after? If so, will that retain existing content and make it compatible with the new version?

Appreciate the help here before I try upgrading!

Hint: To upgrade, you must have at least Kunena 5.1 installed!

These steps have always worked at my tests to upgrade from Joomla 3.10 to Joomla 4.0 and Kunena 6.0:
1. Uninstall Kunena via the Joomla extension manager (it uninstalls the Forum along whith the Kunena menu)
2. If there are other (custom) menu items that relate to your Kunena forum, remove all these menus and menu items
3. Upgrade Joomla 3.10 to 4.0
4. Install Kunena 6.0
5. Create the Kunena menu (click on this button in the Dashboard)
6. Publish the menu item created for you in your top-level/main menu.

Note: Kunena 6.0 is a beta version and there are still routing issues. You should definitely try it out on a test page, not on your official web page.
