Hi all,
Updating my 5.2.2. release gives an error if I try to update to 5.2.3 :
"Required PHP extension 'Fileinfo" is missing. Please install it on your system.
Part of the 5.2.2 is overwritten with 5.2.3 modules, so the forum does not work any more.

reinstalling the original 5.2.2 solves this problem..

I tried to see if anyone else had this problem, but i only find a discussion on v. 4.02 (5 years ago)
I tried to add extension=fileonfo.so to the PHP.ini but no result there...

What else can I do??

Thanks,
henk

Hello,

Since K5.2, fileinfo library from Php is mandatory: www.kunena.org/docs/en/basics/requirements

If you enable it from your php.ini restart then apache and check in the phpinfo is it's right there

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

Thanks for the quick reply!
With version 5.2.2. This did not happen...
Our website is hosted by a provider that apparently does not offer the fileinfo.so. I’ll check with them how we could enable this.
Restarting Apache is also not something we can do ourselves..

I understood from the 4.2 discussions that fileinfo might not be necessary.
interesting: I removed the check in the install.php from the core package and my Kunena seems to work correctly.

with kind regards,

fileinfo is used is enabled on some part for handle attachments, i need to check if in next version we use only fileinfo. Because if some hosters are too much restrictive and don't let you enable fileinfo we need to keep the alternative way
