Kunena 6.4.7 Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.4.7[K 6.4.7] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.0.x/5.1.x/5.2.x/5.3.x/5.4.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.4
Important note: Go to the Kunena Dashboard after an upgrade so that the Kunena database tables are also updated. This is particularly necessary for major version jumps so that the table changes are adapted.

Solved Old topic slugs persist in URLs despite updated topic subject

On my Joomla 5 site with Kunena 6.3.10, I have a topic (in Russian) "Common Global Scenario for the Creation of European Art (detonator)".
ru.geschichte-chronologie.de/forum/8-ges...sstva-detonator#2741
This topic contains navigation links like "Go to the next post" (e.g., ru.geschichte-chronologie.de/index.php/f...-ne-chitajte-ee#2746 ) and "Return to the previous post" (e.g., ru.geschichte-chronologie.de/index.php/f...jte-ee?start=30#2802 ).

Problem:
The topic is titled "Общий глобальный сценарий создания европейского искусства (detonator)" (Common Global Scenario for the Creation of European Art (detonator)). It has over 100 posts, and I needed to manually specify the order of some posts using links. At one point, I temporarily changed the topic’s subject to "Тема обрабатывается, пожалуйста временно не читайте ее" (Topic is being processed, please do not read it temporarily).

In Kunena, changing a post’s subject also updates the entire topic’s subject, which I later reverted to the original title. However, this temporary subject created many URLs with the slug "tema-obrabatyvaetsya-pozhalujsta-vremenno-ne-chitajte-ee" (e.g.,.../index.php/forum/8-geschichte-und/715-tema-obrabatyvaetsya-pozhalujsta-vremenno-ne-chitajte-ee#2742). These URLs are misleading to users. I checked the database table j4r_kunena_messages_text (field message) and found no instances of "tema-obrabatyvaetsya-pozhalujsta-vremenno-ne-chitajte-ee". The issue seems to lie deeper. Example Behavior:
  • If I access the topic via the correct URL (... /forum/8-geschichte-und/715-obshchij-globalnyj-stsenarij-sozdaniya-evropejskogo-iskusstva-detonator?start=0#2741) and move down to post #2742, the "Go to the next post" link points to the correct URL: ... /index.php/forum/8-geschichte-und/715-obshchij-globalnyj-stsenarij-sozdaniya-evropejskogo-iskusstva-detonator#2746.
  • However, if I click on #2742 to get to the post, even though the post title correctly states "lemur replied to the topic General global scenario...," the old URL appears for this post (... /index.php/forum/8-geschichte-und/715-tema-obrabatyvaetsya-pozhalujsta-vremenno-ne-chitajte-ee?start=0) and the "Go to the next post" link uses the incorrect slug:: ... /index.php/forum/8-geschichte-und/715-tema-obrabatyvaetsya-pozhalujsta-vremenno-ne-chitajte-ee#2746.
Database Check:
I ran the query:
SELECT id, subject FROM `#__kunena_topics` WHERE id = 715;
It returned one row with subject = "Общий глобальный сценарий создания европейского искусства (detonator)". There’s no mention of "tema-obrabatyvaetsya-pozhalujsta-vremenno-ne-chitajte-ee".

Questions:
  1. Where does Kunena store old slugs/aliases for topics?
  2. Why do navigation links ("next/previous post") use the old slug when accessing the topic via an outdated URL?
  3. How can I fix this to ensure all links use the current topic slug?
Any advice on resolving this or tracing where the old slugs are coming from? Should I check specific tables (e.g., #__redirect_links, #__kunena_categories) or template files?

Thanks in advance!

You can find the old urls in xxx_kunena_messages_text. Fortunately the links still work, so I don't think it is a huge problem, but you can always create a query to replace the aliasses if it really bothers you.

Thank you very much for your quick response.
Unfortunately, as I mentioned in the first post, the old URLs aren't in the _kunena_messages_text table.

The query
Code:
SELECT mesid, message  FROM #__kunena_messages_text  WHERE `message` LIKE '%715-tema-obrabatyvaetsya%'
returned 0 rows: MySQL lieferte ein leeres Resultat zurück (d.h. null Datensätze).

and the query
Code:
SELECT mesid, message  FROM #__kunena_messages_text  WHERE `message` LIKE '%715-obshchij-globalnyj%';
returned 17 rows.like

2746 [url=/gchde/index.php/forum/8-geschichte-und/71...

Furthermore, the aforementioned different URL generation methods depending on how the user accesses the post are unclear.

You're certainly right—fortunately, the links work. However, it turns out that some users read the text in the URL, and I'd like to clarify this issue.
Thanks

They really should be in that table as they are links that are inserted in the message text.  What happens if you search for tema in all tables with phpmyadmin search?

Thank you. Your suggestion to search the entire database helped.

The old link was found in the _kunena_topics table, in the first_post_message field.

This wasn't about the first post of topic 715, but about the first post of topic 718, which discussed the main topic 715, apparently at the moment when it was renamed.

Interestingly, in the actual post of topic 718, the link was correct. Just in case, for the developers, I'll provide the relevant fragments:

In the database (first_post_message field):

Code:
[size=200][i][url=https://ru.geschichte-chronologie.de/index.php/forum/8-geschichte-und/715-tema-obrabatyvaetsya-pozhalujsta-vremenno-ne-chitajte-ee?start=0][color=#2980b9]Enjoy reading and unexpected discoveries![/color][/url][/i][url=https://ru.geschichte-chronologie.de/index.php/forum/8-geschichte-und/715-tema-obrabatyvaetsya-pozhalujsta-vremenno-ne-chitajte-ee?start=0][color=#2980b9][i] (jump to topic start).[/i][/color][/url][/size]

In the ACTUAL POST at the same time:
Code:
[size=200][i][url=/gchde/index.php/forum/8-geschichte-und/715-obshchij-globalnyj-stsenarij-sozdaniya-evropejskogo-iskusstva-detonator?start=0][color=#2980b9]Enjoy reading and unexpected discoveries![/color][/url][/i][url=/gchde/index.php/forum/8-geschichte-und/715-obshchij-globalnyj-stsenarij-sozdaniya-evropejskogo-iskusstva-detonator?start=0][color=#2980b9][i] (jump to topic start).[/i][/color][/url][/size]

After fixing this link in the database, everything work normally.

Thank you very much again.
