There seems to be a change in the usage of the default setting for user e-mail.
In Kunena 4 the default setting to allow e-mail (yes)  meant that the users' e-mail was not revealed to the public unless the user himself changed the setting to allowing to just  the registered forum-users or to everybody or nobody.

In 6.2.2 with the default 'yes' means everybody can see the accountholders e-mail.  New accounts allways forget to set the profile. Where can I set the default for a user to hide the email.

This setting still works the same.  The option "Hide E-mail = Yes" in the user profiles is default after a new registration.
However, you have "Show E-mail = Yes" in the configuration (tab Extra) and with this option the e-mail addresses are displayed in the user list. You should select No here.

Rich,
the default global setting "Yes' in version 4 caused in the new users profile the hiding of the email. Just tested it again.

Your advise for 6.6.2 is to set the global on "No", causing the hide e-mail for new users.

No, I had written that you should disable the e-mail display in the user list (Disable "Show E-mail = Yes" in the configuration (tab Extra). This has nothing to do with the global setting for the email display.

Rich,
1. I now have a global setting 'No' for the Tab Extra.
2. I check my profile (Moderator account) and I have Hide e-mail = 'No'
3. I login as a normal user and the email of my moderator account is not listed.
4. I login as moderator and all e-mails of every user is shown

I keep on not understanding point 3

Point 3 :
Go to the configuration (tab Users) and choose Show E-mail = Yes. With this setting, users only see the email address of users who allow it in their profile.
There are only exceptions for admins and global mods. They always see the address.
